Assistant Editing can be made much easier with the right tools. Check out our quick list below for a few suggestions.

1) A Notebook

Is this the sexiest suggestion on the list? No. Is it the most important? Yes.

As an assistant editor in scripted television, you are asked to do many tasks in a day. Keep track of them all with a good old-fashioned notebook. Carry this with you everywhere and soon you'll find yourself going from competent to indispensable.

2) An AE Hard Drive

Keep track of your sound effects, music libraries, templates, macros, and more. You're not just being hired for your knowledge. Bring the extras with you on one hard drive. Don't forget a carry case! You don't want mysterious backpack dirt filling up your USB port.

3) Under-The-Desk Foot Rest

This footrest does wonders for your posture. Protect your back by helping your body sit back into your chair.
